What is the Babylonian Talmud?
The Babylonian Talmud (Talmud Bavli) is the foundation of the Oral Torah. It builds on the Mishnah of Rabbi Yehuda HaNasi and adds the discussions of the Amoraim in the academies of Babylonia. Rav Ashi and Ravina completed it. It covers 37 tractates across five of the six orders of the Mishnah, and every daf has two sides, amud aleph and amud bet.
