1. 1Laws of salting and removing feathers on Yom Tov. Containing 5 paragraphs: One does not defeather using the margil method on Yom Tov. What is this margil method? It is when one removes all the flesh from one leg in order to remove the entire hide intact without it tearing because the effort of this skinning is a great effort, and there is no need for it on the festival.
2. 2It is forbidden to boil a kid unless you boil it to eat the skin.
3. 3Regarding an animal that was slaughtered on Yom Tov, it is permissible to remove its skin and put it in an area of foot traffic even though there is no meat on it, and it is permissible to salt it lightly like the way we salt for roasting, and it is permissible to trick (by leaving bits of meat) and salt here and there until you salt the whole thing, but if it was slaughtered before Yom Tov it is forbidden. Rama: and feathers of birds their rule is like that of skin, that you are allowed to move them to save them, like skin.
4. 4One may not salt fats on Yom Tov or flip them, or even to put then on stakes, even if it was slaughtered on Yom tov, it is also forbidden to salt meat over them in the air.
5. 5A pestle that is thick and heavy is considered a vessel, but its designated use is for a prohibited purpose—to crush herbs with it. It is permitted to move it in order to cut meat upon it. But after one has cut upon it, it is forbidden to move it from sun to shade. [However, for its own sake or for the sake of its place, it is permitted.]
