- 1On the Spleen Assimilated to Other Meat The spleen, despite its reddish color, which indicates an abundance of blood, is treated by law as other meat. G LOSS : Some claim that it is customary not to cook the kidneys or testicles, even after removing the forbidden veins, due to the abundance of blood. When faced with a fait accompli, this opinion need not be considered. It is permissible to salt them together with other meat, despite the abundance of blood; provided they are skinned and freed from their fatty layers.

הטחול אע"פ שיש בו מראה אדמומית ונראה כרבוי דם דינו כשאר בשר: [וצריך מליחה]: הגה י"א שנהגו שלא לבשל הכליות או ביצי זכר אפילו לאחר שניקר אותן משום דאית בהו רוב דם ובדיעבד אין לחוש (אגור וארוך כלל א' בשם רוקח) ומותר למלוח כל אלו עם שאר בשר אע"פ שיש בהם רוב דם ובלבד שיסירו הקרומים והחלב מהם:
