    1. 1The essence of the vow referred to in the Torah is to attach it to another consecrated item. For example, one says: "This bread is to me like a sacrifice" or "This bread is to me a prohibition". So too if one prohibits one loaf of bread by attaching it to a consecrated item, and then says of another loaf: "That too!" - it is now forbidden. This can apply even to a hundred loaves. If one vows to fast on a certain day, or not to eat meat, and says of another day: "Like that one!" - it is forbidden [to eat]. RAMA: There are varying terminologies for vows, and the Rabbi did not mention them all.
    2. 2Si au lieu de dire: «Que cet objet me soit défendu comme m’est défendue l’offrande», on dit: «Que cet objet me soit comme la brebis de l’holocauste», ou «comme le bois destiné à consumer le sacrifice», ou «comme l’autel», ou «comme le Temple de Jérusalem», ou «comme un des ustensiles servant à l’autel», on considère que le vœu a été prononcé. G LOSE : Quand on dit: «Que cet objet me soit comme la table du Temple», on a prononcé un vœu. Mais si l’on dit: «Que cet objet me soit défendu comme la table» tout court, il n’y a pas vœu. Cependant, si ces dernières paroles ont été prononcées par un ignorant, celui-ci doit avoir recours à un rabbin pour être relevé de ce qu’il croit être un vœu; sans quoi il s’imaginerait avoir le droit de rompre tous les vœux, même ceux visés au commencement de la glose.
    3. 3Quand une personne, formulant un vœu, est entendue par une autre, qui répond: «Je suis dans le même cas que vous», la seconde personne est obligée d’observer le vœu formulé par la première; si une troisième personne dit aussitôt: «Moi aussi je suis dans le même cas que vous», elle doit également remplir le même vœu. Si une centaine de personnes entendent prononcer le vœu, et déclarent toutes être dans le même cas que la personne qui a formulé le vœu, on considère que toutes ont formulé ce vœu, et elles devront l’observer.

    לאו דוקא מתפיס בקרבן אלא ה"ה בכל דבר הקדוש בקדושת הפה כגון שאומר ככר זה כאימרא כדירים כמזבח כהיכל כירושלים או כאחד מכל משמשי מזבח הרי זה נדר: הגה אם נדר בשלחן שבמקדש הוי נדר אבל אם אמר כשלחן סתם ולא אמר כשלחן הקדש אין זה כלום ומכל מקום בעם הארץ יש להתיר שלא יהא פרוץ בנדרים.
