Psalms 119

אַשְׁרֵ֥י תְמִֽימֵי־דָ֑רֶךְ הַ֝הֹלְכִ֗ים בְּתוֹרַ֥ת יְהֹוָֽה׃

א Happy are those whose way is blameless, who follow G OD ’s teaching.

אַ֭שְׁרֵי נֹצְרֵ֥י עֵדֹתָ֗יו בְּכׇל־לֵ֥ב יִדְרְשֽׁוּהוּ׃

Happy are those who observe God’s decrees, who turn to the divine wholeheartedly.

אַ֭ף לֹא־פָעֲל֣וּ עַוְלָ֑ה בִּדְרָכָ֥יו הָלָֽכוּ׃

They have done no wrong, but have followed God’s ways.

אַ֭תָּה צִוִּ֥יתָה פִקֻּדֶ֗יךָ לִשְׁמֹ֥ר מְאֹֽד׃

You have commanded that Your precepts be kept diligently.

אַ֭חֲלַי יִכֹּ֥נוּ דְרָכָ֗י לִשְׁמֹ֥ר חֻקֶּֽיךָ׃

Would that my ways were firm in keeping Your laws;

אָ֥ז לֹא־אֵב֑וֹשׁ בְּ֝הַבִּיטִ֗י אֶל־כׇּל־מִצְוֺתֶֽיךָ׃

then I would not be ashamed when I regard all Your commandments.

א֭וֹדְךָ בְּיֹ֣שֶׁר לֵבָ֑ב בְּ֝לׇמְדִ֗י מִשְׁפְּטֵ֥י צִדְקֶֽךָ׃

I will praise You with a sincere heart as I learn Your just rules.

אֶת־חֻקֶּ֥יךָ אֶשְׁמֹ֑ר אַֽל־תַּעַזְבֵ֥נִי עַד־מְאֹֽד׃ {פ}

I will keep Your laws; do not utterly forsake me.

בַּמֶּ֣ה יְזַכֶּה־נַּ֭עַר אֶת־אׇרְח֑וֹ לִ֝שְׁמֹ֗ר כִּדְבָרֶֽךָ׃

ב How can youths keep their way pure?— by holding to Your word.

בְּכׇל־לִבִּ֥י דְרַשְׁתִּ֑יךָ אַל־תַּ֝שְׁגֵּ֗נִי מִמִּצְוֺתֶֽיךָ׃

I have turned to You with all my heart; do not let me stray from Your commandments.

בְּ֭לִבִּי צָפַ֣נְתִּי אִמְרָתֶ֑ךָ לְ֝מַ֗עַן לֹ֣א אֶחֱטָא־לָֽךְ׃

In my heart I treasure Your promise; therefore I do not sin against You.

בָּר֖וּךְ אַתָּ֥ה יְהֹוָ֗ה לַמְּדֵ֥נִי חֻקֶּֽיךָ׃

Blessed are You, O E TERNAL One; train me in Your laws.

בִּשְׂפָתַ֥י סִפַּ֑רְתִּי כֹּ֝֗ל מִשְׁפְּטֵי־פִֽיךָ׃

With my lips I rehearse all the rules You proclaimed.

בְּדֶ֖רֶךְ עֵדְוֺתֶ֥יךָ שַּׂ֗שְׂתִּי כְּעַ֣ל כׇּל־הֽוֹן׃

I rejoice over the way of Your decrees as over all riches.

בְּפִקּוּדֶ֥יךָ אָשִׂ֑יחָה וְ֝אַבִּ֗יטָה אֹֽרְחֹתֶֽיךָ׃

I study Your precepts; I regard Your ways;

בְּחֻקֹּתֶ֥יךָ אֶֽשְׁתַּעֲשָׁ֑ע לֹ֖א אֶשְׁכַּ֣ח דְּבָרֶֽךָ׃ {פ}

I take delight in Your laws; I will not neglect Your word.

גְּמֹ֖ל עַל־עַבְדְּךָ֥ אֶחְיֶ֗ה וְאֶשְׁמְרָ֥ה דְבָרֶֽךָ׃

ג Deal kindly with Your servant, that I may live to keep Your word.

גַּל־עֵינַ֥י וְאַבִּ֑יטָה נִ֝פְלָא֗וֹת מִתּוֹרָתֶֽךָ׃

Open my eyes, that I may perceive the wonders of Your teaching.

גֵּ֣ר אָנֹכִ֣י בָאָ֑רֶץ אַל־תַּסְתֵּ֥ר מִ֝מֶּ֗נִּי מִצְוֺתֶֽיךָ׃

I am only a sojourner in the land; do not hide Your commandments from me.

גָּרְסָ֣ה נַפְשִׁ֣י לְתַאֲבָ֑ה אֶֽל־מִשְׁפָּטֶ֥יךָ בְכׇל־עֵֽת׃

My soul is consumed with longing for Your rules at all times.

גָּ֭עַרְתָּ זֵדִ֣ים אֲרוּרִ֑ים הַ֝שֹּׁגִ֗ים מִמִּצְוֺתֶֽיךָ׃

You blast the accursed insolent ones who stray from Your commandments.

גַּ֣ל מֵ֭עָלַי חֶרְפָּ֣ה וָב֑וּז כִּ֖י עֵדֹתֶ֣יךָ נָצָֽרְתִּי׃

Take away from me taunt and abuse, because I observe Your decrees.

גַּ֤ם יָשְׁב֣וּ שָׂ֭רִים בִּ֣י נִדְבָּ֑רוּ עַ֝בְדְּךָ֗ יָשִׂ֥יחַ בְּחֻקֶּֽיךָ׃

Though princes meet and speak against me, Your servant studies Your laws.

גַּֽם־עֵ֭דֹתֶיךָ שַׁעֲשֻׁעָ֗י אַנְשֵׁ֥י עֲצָתִֽי׃ {פ}

For Your decrees are my delight, my intimate companions.

דָּבְקָ֣ה לֶעָפָ֣ר נַפְשִׁ֑י חַ֝יֵּ֗נִי כִּדְבָרֶֽךָ׃

ד My soul clings to the dust; revive me in accordance with Your word.

דְּרָכַ֣י סִ֭פַּרְתִּי וַֽתַּעֲנֵ֗נִי לַמְּדֵ֥נִי חֻקֶּֽיךָ׃

I have declared my way, and You have answered me; train me in Your laws.

דֶּרֶךְ־פִּקּוּדֶ֥יךָ הֲבִינֵ֑נִי וְ֝אָשִׂ֗יחָה בְּנִפְלְאוֹתֶֽיךָ׃

Make me understand the way of Your precepts, that I may study Your wondrous acts.

דָּלְפָ֣ה נַ֭פְשִׁי מִתּוּגָ֑ה קַ֝יְּמֵ֗נִי כִּדְבָרֶֽךָ׃

I am racked with grief; sustain me in accordance with Your word.

דֶּֽרֶךְ־שֶׁ֭קֶר הָסֵ֣ר מִמֶּ֑נִּי וְֽתוֹרָתְךָ֥ חׇנֵּֽנִי׃

Remove all false ways from me; favor me with Your teaching.

דֶּֽרֶךְ־אֱמוּנָ֥ה בָחָ֑רְתִּי מִשְׁפָּטֶ֥יךָ שִׁוִּֽיתִי׃

I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I have set Your rules before me.

דָּבַ֥קְתִּי בְעֵדְוֺתֶ֑יךָ יְ֝הֹוָ֗ה אַל־תְּבִישֵֽׁנִי׃

I cling to Your decrees; O E TERNAL One, do not put me to shame.

דֶּֽרֶךְ־מִצְוֺתֶ֥יךָ אָר֑וּץ כִּ֖י תַרְחִ֣יב לִבִּֽי׃ {פ}

I eagerly pursue Your commandments, for You broaden my understanding.

הוֹרֵ֣נִי יְ֭הֹוָה דֶּ֥רֶךְ חֻקֶּ֗יךָ וְאֶצְּרֶ֥נָּה עֵֽקֶב׃

ה Teach me, O E TERNAL One, the way of Your laws; I will observe them to the utmost.

הֲ֭בִינֵנִי וְאֶצְּרָ֥ה תוֹרָתֶ֗ךָ וְאֶשְׁמְרֶ֥נָּה בְכׇל־לֵֽב׃

Give me understanding, that I may observe Your teaching and keep it wholeheartedly.

הַ֭דְרִיכֵנִי בִּנְתִ֣יב מִצְוֺתֶ֑יךָ כִּי־ב֥וֹ חָפָֽצְתִּי׃

Lead me in the path of Your commandments, for that is my concern.

הַט־לִ֭בִּי אֶל־עֵדְוֺתֶ֗יךָ וְאַ֣ל אֶל־בָּֽצַע׃

Turn my heart to Your decrees and not to love of gain.

הַעֲבֵ֣ר עֵ֭ינַי מֵרְא֣וֹת שָׁ֑וְא בִּדְרָכֶ֥ךָ חַיֵּֽנִי׃

Avert my eyes from seeing falsehood; by Your ways preserve me.

הָקֵ֣ם לְ֭עַבְדְּךָ אִמְרָתֶ֑ךָ אֲ֝שֶׁ֗ר לְיִרְאָתֶֽךָ׃

Fulfill Your promise to Your servant, which is for those who worship You.

הַעֲבֵ֣ר חֶ֭רְפָּתִי אֲשֶׁ֣ר יָגֹ֑רְתִּי כִּ֖י מִשְׁפָּטֶ֣יךָ טוֹבִֽים׃

Remove the taunt that I dread, for Your rules are good.

הִ֭נֵּה תָּאַ֣בְתִּי לְפִקֻּדֶ֑יךָ בְּצִדְקָתְךָ֥ חַיֵּֽנִי׃ {פ}

See, I have longed for Your precepts; by Your righteousness preserve me.

וִיבֹאֻ֣נִי חֲסָדֶ֣ךָ יְהֹוָ֑ה תְּ֝שׁ֥וּעָתְךָ֗ כְּאִמְרָתֶֽךָ׃

ו May Your steadfast love reach me, O E TERNAL One, Your deliverance, as You have promised.

וְאֶעֱנֶ֣ה חֹרְפִ֣י דָבָ֑ר כִּֽי־בָ֝טַ֗חְתִּי בִּדְבָרֶֽךָ׃

I shall have an answer for those who taunt me, for I have put my trust in Your word.

וְֽאַל־תַּצֵּ֬ל מִפִּ֣י דְבַר־אֱמֶ֣ת עַד־מְאֹ֑ד כִּ֖י לְמִשְׁפָּטֶ֣ךָ יִחָֽלְתִּי׃

Do not utterly take the truth away from my mouth, for I have put my hope in Your rules.

וְאֶשְׁמְרָ֖ה תוֹרָתְךָ֥ תָמִ֗יד לְעוֹלָ֥ם וָעֶֽד׃

I will always obey Your teaching, forever and ever.

וְאֶתְהַלְּכָ֥ה בָרְחָבָ֑ה כִּ֖י פִקֻּדֶ֣יךָ דָרָֽשְׁתִּי׃

I will walk about at ease, for I have turned to Your precepts.

וַאֲדַבְּרָ֣ה בְ֭עֵדֹתֶיךָ נֶ֥גֶד מְלָכִ֗ים וְלֹ֣א אֵבֽוֹשׁ׃

I will speak of Your decrees, and not be ashamed in the presence of kings.

וְאֶשְׁתַּעֲשַׁ֥ע בְּמִצְוֺתֶ֗יךָ אֲשֶׁ֣ר אָהָֽבְתִּי׃

I will delight in Your commandments, which I love.

וְאֶשָּֽׂא־כַפַּ֗י אֶֽל־מִ֭צְוֺתֶיךָ אֲשֶׁ֥ר אָהָ֗בְתִּי וְאָשִׂ֥יחָה בְחֻקֶּֽיךָ׃ {פ}

I reach out for Your commandments, which I love; I study Your laws.

זְכֹר־דָּבָ֥ר לְעַבְדֶּ֑ךָ עַ֝֗ל אֲשֶׁ֣ר יִחַלְתָּֽנִי׃

ז Remember Your word to Your servant through which You have given me hope.

זֹ֣את נֶחָמָתִ֣י בְעׇנְיִ֑י כִּ֖י אִמְרָתְךָ֣ חִיָּֽתְנִי׃

This is my comfort in my affliction, that Your promise has preserved me.

זֵ֭דִים הֱלִיצֻ֣נִי עַד־מְאֹ֑ד מִ֝תּ֥וֹרָתְךָ֗ לֹ֣א נָטִֽיתִי׃

Though the arrogant have cruelly mocked me, I have not swerved from Your teaching.

זָ֘כַ֤רְתִּי מִשְׁפָּטֶ֖יךָ מֵעוֹלָ֥ם׀יְהֹוָ֗ה וָאֶתְנֶחָֽם׃

I remember Your rules of old, O E TERNAL One, and find comfort in them.

זַלְעָפָ֣ה אֲ֭חָזַתְנִי מֵרְשָׁעִ֑ים עֹ֝זְבֵ֗י תּוֹרָתֶֽךָ׃

I am seized with rage because of the wicked who forsake Your teaching.

זְ֭מִרוֹת הָיוּ־לִ֥י חֻקֶּ֗יךָ בְּבֵ֣ית מְגוּרָֽי׃

Your laws are a source of strength to me wherever I may dwell.

זָ֘כַ֤רְתִּי בַלַּ֣יְלָה שִׁמְךָ֣ יְהֹוָ֑ה וָ֝אֶשְׁמְרָ֗ה תּוֹרָתֶֽךָ׃

I remember Your name at night, O E TERNAL One, and obey Your teaching.

זֹ֥את הָיְתָה־לִּ֑י כִּ֖י פִקֻּדֶ֣יךָ נָצָֽרְתִּי׃ {פ}

This has been my lot, for I have observed Your precepts.

חֶלְקִ֖י יְהֹוָ֥ה אָמַ֗רְתִּי לִשְׁמֹ֥ר דְּבָרֶֽיךָ׃

ח G OD is my portion; I have resolved to keep Your words.

חִלִּ֣יתִי פָנֶ֣יךָ בְכׇל־לֵ֑ב חׇ֝נֵּ֗נִי כְּאִמְרָתֶֽךָ׃

I have implored You with all my heart; have mercy on me, in accordance with Your promise.

חִשַּׁ֥בְתִּי דְרָכָ֑י וָאָשִׁ֥יבָה רַ֝גְלַ֗י אֶל־עֵדֹתֶֽיךָ׃

I have considered my ways, and have turned back to Your decrees.

חַ֭שְׁתִּי וְלֹ֣א הִתְמַהְמָ֑הְתִּי לִ֝שְׁמֹ֗ר מִצְוֺתֶֽיךָ׃

I have hurried and not delayed to keep Your commandments.

חֶבְלֵ֣י רְשָׁעִ֣ים עִוְּדֻ֑נִי תּ֥֝וֹרָתְךָ֗ לֹ֣א שָׁכָֽחְתִּי׃

Though the bonds of the wicked are coiled round me, I have not neglected Your teaching.

חֲצֽוֹת־לַ֗יְלָה אָ֭קוּם לְהוֹד֣וֹת לָ֑ךְ עַ֝֗ל מִשְׁפְּטֵ֥י צִדְקֶֽךָ׃

I arise at midnight to praise You for Your just rules.

חָבֵ֣ר אָ֭נִי לְכׇל־אֲשֶׁ֣ר יְרֵא֑וּךָ וּ֝לְשֹׁמְרֵ֗י פִּקּוּדֶֽיךָ׃

I am a companion to all who fear You, to those who keep Your precepts.

חַסְדְּךָ֣ יְ֭הֹוָה מָלְאָ֥ה הָאָ֗רֶץ חֻקֶּ֥יךָ לַמְּדֵֽנִי׃ {פ}

Your steadfast love, O E TERNAL One, fills the earth; teach me Your laws.

ט֭וֹב עָשִׂ֣יתָ עִֽם־עַבְדְּךָ֑ יְ֝הֹוָ֗ה כִּדְבָרֶֽךָ׃

ט You have treated Your servant well, according to Your word, O E TERNAL One.

ט֤וּב טַ֣עַם וָדַ֣עַת לַמְּדֵ֑נִי כִּ֖י בְמִצְוֺתֶ֣יךָ הֶאֱמָֽנְתִּי׃

Teach me good sense and knowledge, for I have put my trust in Your commandments.

טֶ֣רֶם אֶ֭עֱנֶה אֲנִ֣י שֹׁגֵ֑ג וְ֝עַתָּ֗ה אִמְרָתְךָ֥ שָׁמָֽרְתִּי׃

Before I was humbled I went astray, but now I keep Your word.

טוֹב־אַתָּ֥ה וּמֵטִ֗יב לַמְּדֵ֥נִי חֻקֶּֽיךָ׃

You are good and beneficent; teach me Your laws.

טָפְל֬וּ עָלַ֣י שֶׁ֣קֶר זֵדִ֑ים אֲ֝נִ֗י בְּכׇל־לֵ֤ב׀ אֶצֹּ֬ר פִּקּוּדֶֽיךָ׃

Though the arrogant have accused me falsely, I observe Your precepts wholeheartedly.

טָפַ֣שׁ כַּחֵ֣לֶב לִבָּ֑ם אֲ֝נִ֗י תּוֹרָתְךָ֥ שִׁעֲשָֽׁעְתִּי׃

Their minds are thick like fat; as for me, Your teaching is my delight.

טֽוֹב־לִ֥י כִי־עֻנֵּ֑יתִי לְ֝מַ֗עַן אֶלְמַ֥ד חֻקֶּֽיךָ׃

It was good for me that I was humbled, so that I might learn Your laws.

טֽוֹב־לִ֥י תוֹרַת־פִּ֑יךָ מֵ֝אַלְפֵ֗י זָהָ֥ב וָכָֽסֶף׃ {פ}

I prefer the teaching You proclaimed to thousands of gold and silver pieces.

יָדֶ֣יךָ עָ֭שׂוּנִי וַֽיְכוֹנְנ֑וּנִי הֲ֝בִינֵ֗נִי וְאֶלְמְדָ֥ה מִצְוֺתֶֽיךָ׃

י Your hands made me and fashioned me; give me understanding that I may learn Your commandments.

יְ֭רֵאֶיךָ יִרְא֣וּנִי וְיִשְׂמָ֑חוּ כִּ֖י לִדְבָרְךָ֣ יִחָֽלְתִּי׃

Those who fear You will see me and rejoice, for I have put my hope in Your word.

יָדַ֣עְתִּי יְ֭הֹוָה כִּי־צֶ֣דֶק מִשְׁפָּטֶ֑יךָ וֶ֝אֱמוּנָ֗ה עִנִּיתָֽנִי׃

I know, O E TERNAL One, that Your rulings are just; rightly have You humbled me.

יְהִי־נָ֣א חַסְדְּךָ֣ לְנַחֲמֵ֑נִי כְּאִמְרָתְךָ֥ לְעַבְדֶּֽךָ׃

May Your steadfast love comfort me in accordance with Your promise to Your servant.

יְבֹא֣וּנִי רַחֲמֶ֣יךָ וְאֶחְיֶ֑ה כִּי־ת֥֝וֹרָתְךָ֗ שַׁעֲשֻׁעָֽי׃

May Your mercy reach me, that I might live, for Your teaching is my delight.

יֵבֹ֣שׁוּ זֵ֭דִים כִּי־שֶׁ֣קֶר עִוְּת֑וּנִי אֲ֝נִ֗י אָשִׂ֥יחַ בְּפִקּוּדֶֽיךָ׃

Let the insolent be dismayed, for they have wronged me without cause; I will study Your precepts.

יָשׁ֣וּבוּ לִ֣י יְרֵאֶ֑יךָ (וידעו) [וְ֝יֹדְעֵ֗י] עֵדֹתֶֽיךָ׃

May those who fear You, those who know Your decrees, turn again to me.

יְהִי־לִבִּ֣י תָמִ֣ים בְּחֻקֶּ֑יךָ לְ֝מַ֗עַן לֹ֣א אֵבֽוֹשׁ׃ {פ}

May I wholeheartedly follow Your laws so that I do not come to grief.

כָּלְתָ֣ה לִתְשׁוּעָתְךָ֣ נַפְשִׁ֑י לִדְבָרְךָ֥ יִחָֽלְתִּי׃

כ I long for Your deliverance; I hope for Your word.

כָּל֣וּ עֵ֭ינַי לְאִמְרָתֶ֑ךָ לֵ֝אמֹ֗ר מָתַ֥י תְּֽנַחֲמֵֽנִי׃

My eyes pine away for Your promise; I say, “When will You comfort me?”

כִּֽי־הָ֭יִיתִי כְּנֹ֣אד בְּקִיט֑וֹר חֻ֝קֶּ֗יךָ לֹ֣א שָׁכָֽחְתִּי׃

Though I have become like a water-skin dried in smoke, I have not neglected Your laws.

כַּמָּ֥ה יְמֵֽי־עַבְדֶּ֑ךָ מָתַ֬י תַּעֲשֶׂ֖ה בְרֹדְפַ֣י מִשְׁפָּֽט׃

How long has Your servant to live? when will You bring my persecutors to judgment?

כָּרוּ־לִ֣י זֵדִ֣ים שִׁיח֑וֹת אֲ֝שֶׁ֗ר לֹ֣א כְתוֹרָתֶֽךָ׃

The insolent have dug pits for me, flouting Your teaching.

כׇּל־מִצְוֺתֶ֥יךָ אֱמוּנָ֑ה שֶׁ֖קֶר רְדָפ֣וּנִי עׇזְרֵֽנִי׃

All Your commandments are enduring; I am persecuted without cause; help me!

כִּ֭מְעַט כִּלּ֣וּנִי בָאָ֑רֶץ וַ֝אֲנִ֗י לֹא־עָזַ֥בְתִּי פִקֻּדֶֽיךָ׃

Though they almost wiped me off the earth, I did not abandon Your precepts.

כְּחַסְדְּךָ֥ חַיֵּ֑נִי וְ֝אֶשְׁמְרָ֗ה עֵד֥וּת פִּֽיךָ׃ {פ}

As befits Your steadfast love, preserve me, so that I may keep the decree You proclaimed.

לְעוֹלָ֥ם יְהֹוָ֑ה דְּ֝בָרְךָ֗ נִצָּ֥ב בַּשָּׁמָֽיִם׃

ל G OD exists forever; Your word stands firm in heaven.

לְדֹ֣ר וָ֭דֹר אֱמוּנָתֶ֑ךָ כּוֹנַ֥נְתָּֽ אֶ֝֗רֶץ וַֽתַּעֲמֹֽד׃

Your faithfulness is for all generations; You have established the earth, and it stands.

לְֽ֭מִשְׁפָּטֶיךָ עָמְד֣וּ הַיּ֑וֹם כִּ֖י הַכֹּ֣ל עֲבָדֶֽיךָ׃

They stand this day to [carry out] Your rulings, for all are Your servants.

לוּלֵ֣י ת֭וֹרָתְךָ שַׁעֲשֻׁעָ֑י אָ֝֗ז אָבַ֥דְתִּי בְעׇנְיִֽי׃

Were not Your teaching my delight I would have perished in my affliction.

לְ֭עוֹלָם לֹא־אֶשְׁכַּ֣ח פִּקּוּדֶ֑יךָ כִּ֥י בָ֝֗ם חִיִּיתָֽנִי׃

I will never neglect Your precepts, for You have preserved my life through them.

לְֽךָ־אֲ֭נִי הוֹשִׁיעֵ֑נִי כִּ֖י פִקּוּדֶ֣יךָ דָרָֽשְׁתִּי׃

I am Yours; save me! For I have turned to Your precepts.

לִ֤י קִוּ֣וּ רְשָׁעִ֣ים לְאַבְּדֵ֑נִי עֵ֝דֹתֶ֗יךָ אֶתְבּוֹנָֽן׃

The wicked hope to destroy me, but I ponder Your decrees.

לְֽכׇל־תִּ֭כְלָה רָאִ֣יתִי קֵ֑ץ רְחָבָ֖ה מִצְוָתְךָ֣ מְאֹֽד׃ {פ}

I have seen that all things have their limit, but Your commandment is broad beyond measure.

מָה־אָהַ֥בְתִּי תוֹרָתֶ֑ךָ כׇּל־הַ֝יּ֗וֹם הִ֣יא שִׂיחָתִֽי׃

מ O how I love Your teaching! It is my study all day long.

מֵֽ֭אֹיְבַי תְּחַכְּמֵ֣נִי מִצְוֺתֶ֑ךָ כִּ֖י לְעוֹלָ֣ם הִיא־לִֽי׃

Your commandments make me wiser than my enemies; they always stand by me.

מִכׇּל־מְלַמְּדַ֥י הִשְׂכַּ֑לְתִּי כִּ֥י עֵ֝דְוֺתֶ֗יךָ שִׂ֣יחָה לִֽי׃

I have gained more insight than all my teachers, for Your decrees are my study.

מִזְּקֵנִ֥ים אֶתְבּוֹנָ֑ן כִּ֖י פִקּוּדֶ֣יךָ נָצָֽרְתִּי׃

I have gained more understanding than my elders, for I observe Your precepts.

מִכׇּל־אֹ֣רַח רָ֭ע כָּלִ֣אתִי רַגְלָ֑י לְ֝מַ֗עַן אֶשְׁמֹ֥ר דְּבָרֶֽךָ׃

I have avoided every evil way so that I may keep Your word.

מִמִּשְׁפָּטֶ֥יךָ לֹא־סָ֑רְתִּי כִּי־אַ֝תָּ֗ה הוֹרֵתָֽנִי׃

I have not departed from Your rules, for You have instructed me.

מַה־נִּמְלְצ֣וּ לְ֭חִכִּי אִמְרָתֶ֗ךָ מִדְּבַ֥שׁ לְפִֽי׃

How pleasing is Your word to my palate, sweeter than honey.

מִפִּקּוּדֶ֥יךָ אֶתְבּוֹנָ֑ן עַל־כֵּ֝֗ן שָׂנֵ֤אתִי׀ כׇּל־אֹ֬רַח שָֽׁקֶר׃ {פ}

I ponder Your precepts; therefore I hate every false way.

נֵר־לְרַגְלִ֥י דְבָרֶ֑ךָ וְ֝א֗וֹר לִנְתִיבָתִֽי׃

נ Your word is a lamp to my feet, a light for my path.

נִשְׁבַּ֥עְתִּי וָאֲקַיֵּ֑מָה לִ֝שְׁמֹ֗ר מִשְׁפְּטֵ֥י צִדְקֶֽךָ׃

I have firmly sworn to keep Your just rules.

נַעֲנֵ֥יתִי עַד־מְאֹ֑ד יְ֝הֹוָ֗ה חַיֵּ֥נִי כִדְבָרֶֽךָ׃

I am very much afflicted; O E TERNAL One, preserve me in accordance with Your word.

נִדְב֣וֹת פִּ֭י רְצֵה־נָ֣א יְהֹוָ֑ה וּֽמִשְׁפָּטֶ֥יךָ לַמְּדֵֽנִי׃

Accept, O E TERNAL One, my freewill offerings; teach me Your rules.

נַפְשִׁ֣י בְכַפִּ֣י תָמִ֑יד וְ֝ת֥וֹרָתְךָ֗ לֹ֣א שָׁכָֽחְתִּי׃

Though my life is always in danger, I do not neglect Your teaching.

נָתְנ֬וּ רְשָׁעִ֣ים פַּ֣ח לִ֑י וּ֝מִפִּקּוּדֶ֗יךָ לֹ֣א תָעִֽיתִי׃

Though the wicked have set a trap for me, I have not strayed from Your precepts.

נָחַ֣לְתִּי עֵדְוֺתֶ֣יךָ לְעוֹלָ֑ם כִּֽי־שְׂשׂ֖וֹן לִבִּ֣י הֵֽמָּה׃

Your decrees are my eternal heritage; they are my heart’s delight.

נָטִ֣יתִי לִ֭בִּי לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת חֻקֶּ֗יךָ לְעוֹלָ֥ם עֵֽקֶב׃ {פ}

I am resolved to follow Your laws to the utmost forever.

סֵעֲפִ֥ים שָׂנֵ֑אתִי וְֽתוֹרָתְךָ֥ אָהָֽבְתִּי׃

ס I hate the double-minded, but I love Your teaching.

סִתְרִ֣י וּמָגִנִּ֣י אָ֑תָּה לִדְבָרְךָ֥ יִחָֽלְתִּי׃

You are my protection and my shield; I hope for Your word.

סוּרוּ־מִמֶּ֥נִּי מְרֵעִ֑ים וְ֝אֶצְּרָ֗ה מִצְוֺ֥ת אֱלֹהָֽי׃

Keep away from me, you evildoers, that I may observe the commandments of my God.

סׇמְכֵ֣נִי כְאִמְרָתְךָ֣ וְאֶחְיֶ֑ה וְאַל־תְּ֝בִישֵׁ֗נִי מִשִּׂבְרִֽי׃

Support me as You promised, so that I may live; do not thwart my expectation.

סְעָדֵ֥נִי וְאִוָּשֵׁ֑עָה וְאֶשְׁעָ֖ה בְחֻקֶּ֣יךָ תָמִֽיד׃

Sustain me that I may be saved, and I will always muse upon Your laws.

סָ֭לִיתָ כׇּל־שׁוֹגִ֣ים מֵחֻקֶּ֑יךָ כִּי־שֶׁ֝֗קֶר תַּרְמִיתָֽם׃

You reject all who stray from Your laws, for they are false and deceitful.

סִגִ֗ים הִשְׁבַּ֥תָּ כׇל־רִשְׁעֵי־אָ֑רֶץ לָ֝כֵ֗ן אָהַ֥בְתִּי עֵדֹתֶֽיךָ׃

You do away with the wicked as if they were dross; rightly do I love Your decrees.

סָמַ֣ר מִפַּחְדְּךָ֣ בְשָׂרִ֑י וּֽמִמִּשְׁפָּטֶ֥יךָ יָרֵֽאתִי׃ {פ}

My flesh creeps from fear of You; I am in awe of Your rulings.

עָ֭שִׂיתִי מִשְׁפָּ֣ט וָצֶ֑דֶק בַּל־תַּ֝נִּיחֵ֗נִי לְעֹשְׁקָֽי׃

ע I have done what is just and right; do not abandon me to those who would wrong me.

עֲרֹ֣ב עַבְדְּךָ֣ לְט֑וֹב אַֽל־יַעַשְׁקֻ֥נִי זֵדִֽים׃

Guarantee Your servant’s well-being; do not let the arrogant wrong me.

עֵ֭ינַי כָּל֣וּ לִישׁוּעָתֶ֑ךָ וּלְאִמְרַ֥ת צִדְקֶֽךָ׃

My eyes pine away for Your deliverance, for Your promise of victory.

עֲשֵׂ֖ה עִם־עַבְדְּךָ֥ כְחַסְדֶּ֗ךָ וְחֻקֶּ֥יךָ לַמְּדֵֽנִי׃

Deal with Your servant as befits Your steadfast love; teach me Your laws.

עַבְדְּךָ־אָ֥נִי הֲבִינֵ֑נִי וְ֝אֵדְעָ֗ה עֵדֹתֶֽיךָ׃

I am Your servant; give me understanding, that I might know Your decrees.

עֵ֭ת לַעֲשׂ֣וֹת לַיהֹוָ֑ה הֵ֝פֵ֗רוּ תּוֹרָתֶֽךָ׃

It is a time to act for G OD , for they have violated Your teaching.

עַל־כֵּ֭ן אָהַ֣בְתִּי מִצְוֺתֶ֑יךָ מִזָּהָ֥ב וּמִפָּֽז׃

Rightly do I love Your commandments more than gold, even fine gold.

עַל־כֵּ֤ן׀ כׇּל־פִּקּ֣וּדֵי כֹ֣ל יִשָּׁ֑רְתִּי כׇּל־אֹ֖רַח שֶׁ֣קֶר שָׂנֵֽאתִי׃ {פ}

Truly by all [Your] precepts I walk straight; I hate every false way.

פְּלָא֥וֹת עֵדְוֺתֶ֑יךָ עַל־כֵּ֝֗ן נְצָרָ֥תַם נַפְשִֽׁי׃

פ Your decrees are wondrous; rightly do I observe them.

פֵּ֖תַח דְּבָרֶ֥יךָ יָאִ֗יר מֵבִ֥ין פְּתָיִֽים׃

The words You inscribed give light, and grant understanding to the simple.

פִּֽי־פָ֭עַרְתִּי וָאֶשְׁאָ֑פָה כִּ֖י לְמִצְוֺתֶ֣יךָ יָאָֽבְתִּי׃

I open my mouth wide, I pant, longing for Your commandments.

פְּנֵה־אֵלַ֥י וְחׇנֵּ֑נִי כְּ֝מִשְׁפָּ֗ט לְאֹהֲבֵ֥י שְׁמֶֽךָ׃

Turn to me and be gracious to me, as is Your rule with those who love Your name.

פְּ֭עָמַי הָכֵ֣ן בְּאִמְרָתֶ֑ךָ וְֽאַל־תַּשְׁלֶט־בִּ֥י כׇל־אָֽוֶן׃

Make my feet firm through Your promise; do not let iniquity dominate me.

פְּ֭דֵנִי מֵעֹ֣שֶׁק אָדָ֑ם וְ֝אֶשְׁמְרָ֗ה פִּקּוּדֶֽיךָ׃

Redeem me from being wronged by others, that I may keep Your precepts.

פָּ֭נֶיךָ הָאֵ֣ר בְּעַבְדֶּ֑ךָ וְ֝לַמְּדֵ֗נִי אֶת־חֻקֶּֽיךָ׃

Show favor to Your servant, and teach me Your laws.

פַּלְגֵי־מַ֭יִם יָרְד֣וּ עֵינָ֑י עַ֝֗ל לֹא־שָׁמְר֥וּ תוֹרָתֶֽךָ׃ {פ}

My eyes shed streams of water because others do not obey Your teaching.

צַדִּ֣יק אַתָּ֣ה יְהֹוָ֑ה וְ֝יָשָׁ֗ר מִשְׁפָּטֶֽיךָ׃

צ You are righteous, O E TERNAL One; Your rulings are just.

צִ֭וִּיתָ צֶ֣דֶק עֵדֹתֶ֑יךָ וֶאֱמוּנָ֥ה מְאֹֽד׃

You have ordained righteous decrees; they are firmly enduring.

צִמְּתַ֥תְנִי קִנְאָתִ֑י כִּֽי־שָׁכְח֖וּ דְבָרֶ֣יךָ צָרָֽי׃

I am consumed with rage over my foes’ neglect of Your words.

צְרוּפָ֖ה אִמְרָתְךָ֥ מְאֹ֗ד וְֽעַבְדְּךָ֥ אֲהֵבָֽהּ׃

Your word is exceedingly pure, and Your servant loves it.

צָעִ֣יר אָנֹכִ֣י וְנִבְזֶ֑ה פִּ֝קֻּדֶ֗יךָ לֹ֣א שָׁכָֽחְתִּי׃

Though I am belittled and despised, I have not neglected Your precepts.

צִדְקָתְךָ֣ צֶ֣דֶק לְעוֹלָ֑ם וְֽתוֹרָתְךָ֥ אֱמֶֽת׃

Your righteousness is eternal; Your teaching is true.

צַר־וּמָצ֥וֹק מְצָא֑וּנִי מִ֝צְוֺתֶ֗יךָ שַׁעֲשֻׁעָֽי׃

Though anguish and distress come upon me, Your commandments are my delight.

צֶ֖דֶק עֵדְוֺתֶ֥יךָ לְעוֹלָ֗ם הֲבִינֵ֥נִי וְאֶחְיֶֽה׃ {פ}

Your righteous decrees are eternal; give me understanding, that I might live.

קָרָ֣אתִי בְכׇל־לֵ֭ב עֲנֵ֥נִי יְהֹוָ֗ה חֻקֶּ֥יךָ אֶצֹּֽרָה׃

ק I call with all my heart; answer me, O E TERNAL One, that I may observe Your laws.

קְרָאתִ֥יךָ הוֹשִׁיעֵ֑נִי וְ֝אֶשְׁמְרָ֗ה עֵדֹתֶֽיךָ׃

I call upon You; save me, that I may keep Your decrees.

קִדַּ֣מְתִּי בַ֭נֶּשֶׁף וָאֲשַׁוֵּ֑עָה (לדבריך) [לִדְבָרְךָ֥] יִחָֽלְתִּי׃

I rise before dawn and cry for help; I hope for Your word.

קִדְּמ֣וּ עֵ֭ינַי אַשְׁמֻר֑וֹת לָ֝שִׂ֗יחַ בְּאִמְרָתֶֽךָ׃

My eyes greet each watch of the night, as I meditate on Your promise.

ק֭וֹלִי שִׁמְעָ֣ה כְחַסְדֶּ֑ךָ יְ֝הֹוָ֗ה כְּֽמִשְׁפָּטֶ֥ךָ חַיֵּֽנִי׃

Hear my voice as befits Your steadfast love; O E TERNAL One, preserve me, as is Your rule.

קָ֭רְבוּ רֹדְפֵ֣י זִמָּ֑ה מִתּוֹרָתְךָ֥ רָחָֽקוּ׃

Those who pursue intrigue draw near; they are far from Your teaching.

קָר֣וֹב אַתָּ֣ה יְהֹוָ֑ה וְֽכׇל־מִצְוֺתֶ֥יךָ אֱמֶֽת׃

You, O E TERNAL One, are near, and all Your commandments are true.

קֶ֣דֶם יָ֭דַעְתִּי מֵעֵדֹתֶ֑יךָ כִּ֖י לְעוֹלָ֣ם יְסַדְתָּֽם׃ {פ}

I know from Your decrees of old that You have established them forever.

רְאֵה־עׇנְיִ֥י וְחַלְּצֵ֑נִי כִּי־ת֥֝וֹרָתְךָ֗ לֹ֣א שָׁכָֽחְתִּי׃

ר See my affliction and rescue me, for I have not neglected Your teaching.

רִיבָ֣ה רִ֭יבִי וּגְאָלֵ֑נִי לְאִמְרָתְךָ֥ חַיֵּֽנִי׃

Champion my cause and redeem me; preserve me according to Your promise.

רָח֣וֹק מֵרְשָׁעִ֣ים יְשׁוּעָ֑ה כִּי־חֻ֝קֶּ֗יךָ לֹ֣א דָרָֽשׁוּ׃

Deliverance is far from the wicked, for they have not turned to Your laws.

רַחֲמֶ֖יךָ רַבִּ֥ים׀יְהֹוָ֑ה כְּֽמִשְׁפָּטֶ֥יךָ חַיֵּֽנִי׃

Your mercies are great, O E TERNAL One; as is Your rule, preserve me.

רַ֭בִּים רֹדְפַ֣י וְצָרָ֑י מֵ֝עֵדְוֺתֶ֗יךָ לֹ֣א נָטִֽיתִי׃

Many are my persecutors and foes; I have not swerved from Your decrees.

רָאִ֣יתִי בֹ֭גְדִים וָאֶתְקוֹטָ֑טָה אֲשֶׁ֥ר אִ֝מְרָתְךָ֗ לֹ֣א שָׁמָֽרוּ׃

I have seen traitors and loathed them, because they did not keep Your word in mind.

רְ֭אֵה כִּי־פִקּוּדֶ֣יךָ אָהָ֑בְתִּי יְ֝הֹוָ֗ה כְּֽחַסְדְּךָ֥ חַיֵּֽנִי׃

See that I have loved Your precepts; O E TERNAL One, preserve me, as befits Your steadfast love.

רֹאשׁ־דְּבָרְךָ֥ אֱמֶ֑ת וּ֝לְעוֹלָ֗ם כׇּל־מִשְׁפַּ֥ט צִדְקֶֽךָ׃ {פ}

Truth is the essence of Your word; Your just rules are eternal.

שָׂ֭רִים רְדָפ֣וּנִי חִנָּ֑ם (ומדבריך) [וּ֝מִדְּבָרְךָ֗] פָּחַ֥ד לִבִּֽי׃

ש Princes have persecuted me without reason; my heart thrills at Your word.

שָׂ֣שׂ אָ֭נֹכִי עַל־אִמְרָתֶ֑ךָ כְּ֝מוֹצֵ֗א שָׁלָ֥ל רָֽב׃

I rejoice over Your promise as one who obtains great spoil.

שֶׁ֣קֶר שָׂ֭נֵאתִי וַאֲתַעֵ֑בָה תּוֹרָתְךָ֥ אָהָֽבְתִּי׃

I hate and abhor falsehood; I love Your teaching.

שֶׁ֣בַע בַּ֭יּוֹם הִלַּלְתִּ֑יךָ עַ֝֗ל מִשְׁפְּטֵ֥י צִדְקֶֽךָ׃

I praise You seven times each day for Your just rules.

שָׁל֣וֹם רָ֭ב לְאֹהֲבֵ֣י תוֹרָתֶ֑ךָ וְאֵֽין־לָ֥מוֹ מִכְשֽׁוֹל׃

Those who love Your teaching enjoy well-being; they encounter no adversity.

שִׂבַּ֣רְתִּי לִישׁוּעָתְךָ֣ יְהֹוָ֑ה וּֽמִצְוֺתֶ֥יךָ עָשִֽׂיתִי׃

I hope for Your deliverance, O E TERNAL One; I observe Your commandments.

שָֽׁמְרָ֣ה נַ֭פְשִׁי עֵדֹתֶ֑יךָ וָאֹהֲבֵ֥ם מְאֹֽד׃

I obey Your decrees and love them greatly.

שָׁמַ֣רְתִּי פִ֭קּוּדֶיךָ וְעֵדֹתֶ֑יךָ כִּ֖י כׇל־דְּרָכַ֣י נֶגְדֶּֽךָ׃ {פ}

I obey Your precepts and decrees; all my ways are before You.

תִּקְרַ֤ב רִנָּתִ֣י לְפָנֶ֣יךָ יְהֹוָ֑ה כִּדְבָרְךָ֥ הֲבִינֵֽנִי׃

ת May my plea reach You, O E TERNAL One; grant me understanding according to Your word.

תָּב֣וֹא תְחִנָּתִ֣י לְפָנֶ֑יךָ כְּ֝אִמְרָתְךָ֗ הַצִּילֵֽנִי׃

May my petition come before You; save me in accordance with Your promise.

תַּבַּ֣עְנָה שְׂפָתַ֣י תְּהִלָּ֑ה כִּ֖י תְלַמְּדֵ֣נִי חֻקֶּֽיךָ׃

My lips shall pour forth praise, for You teach me Your laws.

תַּ֣עַן לְ֭שׁוֹנִי אִמְרָתֶ֑ךָ כִּ֖י כׇל־מִצְוֺתֶ֣יךָ צֶּֽדֶק׃

My tongue shall declare Your promise, for all Your commandments are just.

תְּהִי־יָדְךָ֥ לְעׇזְרֵ֑נִי כִּ֖י פִקּוּדֶ֣יךָ בָחָֽרְתִּי׃

Lend Your hand to help me, for I have chosen Your precepts.

תָּאַ֣בְתִּי לִישׁוּעָתְךָ֣ יְהֹוָ֑ה וְ֝ת֥וֹרָתְךָ֗ שַׁעֲשֻׁעָֽי׃

I have longed for Your deliverance, O E TERNAL One; Your teaching is my delight.

תְּֽחִי־נַ֭פְשִׁי וּֽתְהַלְלֶ֑ךָּ וּֽמִשְׁפָּטֶ֥ךָ יַעְזְרֻֽנִי׃

Let me live, that I may praise You; may Your rules be my help;

תָּעִ֗יתִי כְּשֶׂ֣ה אֹ֭בֵד בַּקֵּ֣שׁ עַבְדֶּ֑ךָ כִּ֥י מִ֝צְוֺתֶ֗יךָ לֹ֣א שָׁכָֽחְתִּי׃ {פ}

I have strayed like a lost sheep; search for Your servant, for I have not neglected Your commandments.
