Verse 2
התנערי — אישקור"א בלעז כמנער את הטלית:
קומי — מן הארץ מגזרת לארץ תשב (לעיל ג):
שבי — על הכסא:
התפתחי — הוי נתרת:
מוסרי — קריגל"ש בלע"ז:
שביה — כמו שבויה:
Verse 3
חנם נמכרתם — על עסקי חנם הוא יצר הרע שאינו לכם לשכר:
ולא בכסף תגאלו — אלא בתשובה:
Verse 4
מצרים ירד עמו וגו' — הם המצריים היו להם קצת חוב עליהם שנעשו להם אכסניא וכלכלו' אבל אשור באפס ובחנ' עשקו:
Verse 5
מה לי פה — למה אני שוהא ומשהא בני כאן:
יהילילו — מתפארים לאמר ידינו רמה:
מנואץ — מתנאץ והרי זה דוגמת וישמע את הקול מדבר אליו (במדבר ח):
Verse 6
ידע עמי — כשאגאלם יכירו כי שמי אדון שליט ומושל כמשמעו:
לכן ביום — גאולתם יבינו כי אני הוא המדבר והנני קיימתי:
Verse 8
צופיך — צופים שמעמידין על החומות והמגדלים לבשר ולראות מי בא לעיר:
Verse 10
חשף — גלה:
Verse 11
טמא — אל תגעו, שקץ יהיו לכם מליג' בהם:
צאו מתוכה — מתוך הגלות כל נחמות האלו האחרונות אינן אלא על גלות האחרון:
הברו — הטהרו:
נושאי כלי ה' — הכהנים הלוים שהיית' נושאי' כליו (של הקב"ה) במדבר (מכאן לתחיי' המתים):
Verse 12
כי הולך לפניכם — שני דברים שבסוף המקרא הזה מיישבין שני דברים שבראשו כי לא בחפזון תצאו. מה טעם, כי הולך לפניכם ה' לנחותכם הדרך ומי ששלוחו מקדים לפניו לנחותו הדרך אין יציאתו בחפזון. ובמנוסה לא תלכון. לפי שמאסיפכם אלהי ישראל הולך מאחריכם לשמור אתכם מכל רודף כמו ונסע דגל מחנה דן מאסף לכל המחנות ההולך אחרי המחנה קרוי מאסף לפי שהוא ממתין את הנחלשים ואת הנכשלים וכן הוא אומר ביהושע והמאסף הולך אחרי הארון:
Verse 13
הנה ישכיל עבדי — הנה באחרית הימים יצליח עבדי יעקב צדיקים שבו:
Verse 14
כאשר שממו — כאשר תמהו עליהם עמים רבים בראותם שפלותם ואמרו זה אל זה כמה משחת מאיש מראהו (של ישראל) ראו מה תארם חשוך משאר בני אדם כן כאשר אנחנו רואים בעינינו:
Verse 15
כן יזה גוים רבים — כן עתה גם הוא תגבר ידו וידה את קרנות העכו"ם אשר זירוהו:
יקפצו — יסגרו פיהם מרוב תימהון, כי כבוד אשר לא סופר להם על שום אדם ראו בו:
התבוננו — אסתכלו:

Malbim's commentary

Verse 1
"Awaken,awaken" (this is also said in response to what is written above, "Awaken, awaken, dress yourself with strength, O arm of the Lord" And He responds - you awake, upon you the thing depends, you dress yourself with strength Zion, as was explained above)
"put on your strength, O Zion" In the stronghold of Zion, the City of David, there resided the Holy Temple,the priesthood, the Sanhedrin and the kingship which are the inner strength - in reference to this the verse says 'put on your strength, O Zion.' But in Jerusalem, which is the wholeness of the city, resided the outer garments - the clothes of glory which are wealth and a populous people and are physical success. In reference to this it says
"put on the garments of your beauty, Jerusalem the Holy City, for no longer shall there come into you the uncircumcised" into Jerusalem
"and the unclean" into Zion

Verse 1

עוּרִ֥י עוּרִ֛י לִבְשִׁ֥י עֻזֵּ֖ךְ צִיּ֑וֹן לִבְשִׁ֣י׀ בִּגְדֵ֣י תִפְאַרְתֵּ֗ךְ יְרוּשָׁלַ֙͏ִם֙ עִ֣יר הַקֹּ֔דֶשׁ כִּ֣י לֹ֥א יוֹסִ֛יף יָבֹא־בָ֥ךְ ע֖וֹד עָרֵ֥ל וְטָמֵֽא׃

Awake, awake, O Zion! Clothe yourself in splendor; Put on your robes of majesty, Jerusalem, holy city! For the uncircumcised and the impure Shall never enter you again.

Verse 2

הִתְנַעֲרִ֧י מֵעָפָ֛ר ק֥וּמִי שְּׁבִ֖י יְרוּשָׁלָ֑͏ִם (התפתחו) [הִֽתְפַּתְּחִי֙] מוֹסְרֵ֣י צַוָּארֵ֔ךְ שְׁבִיָּ֖ה בַּת־צִיּֽוֹן׃ {ס}

Arise, shake off the dust, Sit [on your throne], Jerusalem! Loose the bonds from your neck, O captive one, Fair Zion!

Verse 3

כִּי־כֹה֙ אָמַ֣ר יְהֹוָ֔ה חִנָּ֖ם נִמְכַּרְתֶּ֑ם וְלֹ֥א בְכֶ֖סֶף תִּגָּאֵֽלוּ׃ {ס}

For thus said G OD : You were sold for no price, And shall be redeemed without money.

Verse 4

כִּ֣י כֹ֤ה אָמַר֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יֱהֹוִ֔ה מִצְרַ֛יִם יָֽרַד־עַמִּ֥י בָרִֽאשֹׁנָ֖ה לָג֣וּר שָׁ֑ם וְאַשּׁ֖וּר בְּאֶ֥פֶס עֲשָׁקֽוֹ׃

For thus said my Sovereign G OD : Of old, My people went down To Egypt to sojourn there; But Assyria has robbed them, Giving nothing in return.

Verse 5

וְעַתָּ֤ה מַה־לִּי־פֹה֙ נְאֻם־יְהֹוָ֔ה כִּֽי־לֻקַּ֥ח עַמִּ֖י חִנָּ֑ם מֹשְׁלָ֤ו יְהֵילִ֙ילוּ֙ נְאֻם־יְהֹוָ֔ה וְתָמִ֥יד כׇּל־הַיּ֖וֹם שְׁמִ֥י מִנֹּאָֽץ׃

What therefore do I gain here? —declares G OD — For My people has been carried off for nothing, Their mockers howl —declares G OD — And constantly, unceasingly, My name is reviled.

Verse 6

לָכֵ֛ן יֵדַ֥ע עַמִּ֖י שְׁמִ֑י לָכֵן֙ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֔וּא כִּֽי־אֲנִי־ה֥וּא הַֽמְדַבֵּ֖ר הִנֵּֽנִי׃ {ס}

Assuredly, My people shall learn My name, Assuredly [they shall learn] on that day That I, the One who promised, Am now at hand.

Verse 7

מַה־נָּאו֨וּ עַל־הֶהָרִ֜ים רַגְלֵ֣י מְבַשֵּׂ֗ר מַשְׁמִ֧יעַ שָׁל֛וֹם מְבַשֵּׂ֥ר ט֖וֹב מַשְׁמִ֣יעַ יְשׁוּעָ֑ה אֹמֵ֥ר לְצִיּ֖וֹן מָלַ֥ךְ אֱלֹהָֽיִךְ׃

How welcome on the mountain Are the footsteps of the herald Announcing happiness, Heralding good fortune, Announcing victory, Telling Zion, “Your God reigns!”

Verse 8

ק֥וֹל צֹפַ֛יִךְ נָ֥שְׂאוּ ק֖וֹל יַחְדָּ֣ו יְרַנֵּ֑נוּ כִּ֣י עַ֤יִן בְּעַ֙יִן֙ יִרְא֔וּ בְּשׁ֥וּב יְהֹוָ֖ה צִיּֽוֹן׃

Hark! Your lookouts raise their voices, As one they shout for joy; For every eye shall behold G OD ’s return to Zion.

Verse 9

פִּצְח֤וּ רַנְּנוּ֙ יַחְדָּ֔ו חׇרְב֖וֹת יְרוּשָׁלָ֑͏ִם כִּֽי־נִחַ֤ם יְהֹוָה֙ עַמּ֔וֹ גָּאַ֖ל יְרוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם׃

Raise a shout together, O ruins of Jerusalem! For G OD will comfort this people, Will redeem Jerusalem.

Verse 10

חָשַׂ֤ף יְהֹוָה֙ אֶת־זְר֣וֹעַ קׇדְשׁ֔וֹ לְעֵינֵ֖י כׇּל־הַגּוֹיִ֑ם וְרָאוּ֙ כׇּל־אַפְסֵי־אָ֔רֶץ אֵ֖ת יְשׁוּעַ֥ת אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃ {ס}

G OD will bare a holy arm In the sight of all the nations, And the very ends of earth shall see The victory of our God.

Verse 11

ס֤וּרוּ ס֙וּרוּ֙ צְא֣וּ מִשָּׁ֔ם טָמֵ֖א אַל־תִּגָּ֑עוּ צְא֣וּ מִתּוֹכָ֔הּ הִבָּ֕רוּ נֹשְׂאֵ֖י כְּלֵ֥י יְהֹוָֽה׃

Turn, turn away, touch naught impure As you depart from there; Keep pure, as you go forth from there, You who bear the vessels of G OD !

Verse 12

כִּ֣י לֹ֤א בְחִפָּזוֹן֙ תֵּצֵ֔אוּ וּבִמְנוּסָ֖ה לֹ֣א תֵלֵכ֑וּן כִּֽי־הֹלֵ֤ךְ לִפְנֵיכֶם֙ יְהֹוָ֔ה וּמְאַסִּפְכֶ֖ם אֱלֹהֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ {ס}

For you will not depart in haste, Nor will you leave in flight; For G OD is marching before you, The God of Israel is your rear guard.

Verse 13

הִנֵּ֥ה יַשְׂכִּ֖יל עַבְדִּ֑י יָר֧וּם וְנִשָּׂ֛א וְגָבַ֖הּ מְאֹֽד׃

“Indeed, My servant shall prosper, Be exalted and raised to great heights.

Verse 14

כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר שָׁמְמ֤וּ עָלֶ֙יךָ֙ רַבִּ֔ים כֵּן־מִשְׁחַ֥ת מֵאִ֖ישׁ מַרְאֵ֑הוּ וְתֹאֲר֖וֹ מִבְּנֵ֥י אָדָֽם׃

Just as the many were appalled at him — So marred was his appearance, unlike that of a person, His form, beyond human semblance—

Verse 15

כֵּ֤ן יַזֶּה֙ גּוֹיִ֣ם רַבִּ֔ים עָלָ֛יו יִקְפְּצ֥וּ מְלָכִ֖ים פִּיהֶ֑ם כִּ֠י אֲשֶׁ֨ר לֹֽא־סֻפַּ֤ר לָהֶם֙ רָא֔וּ וַאֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹא־שָׁמְע֖וּ הִתְבּוֹנָֽנוּ׃ {ס}

Just so he shall startle many nations. Kings shall be silenced because of him, For they shall see what has not been told them, Shall behold what they never have heard.”
