<b>בריה אפילו באלף לא בטיל. ובו ד' סעיפים:</b><br> בריה דהיינו כגון נמלה או עוף טמא וגיד הנשה ואבר מן החי וביצה שיש בה אפרוח וכיוצא בהם אפי' באלף לא בטלה ואין לו דין בריה אא"כ הוא דבר שהיה בו חיות לאפוקי חטה אחת של איסור וכן צריך שיהא דבר שאסור מתחילת ברייתו לאפוקי עוף טהור שנתנבל ושור הנסקל וכן צריך שיהיה דבר שלם שאם יחלק אין שמו עליו לאפוקי חלב וכן צריך שיהא שלם: הגה ועיקר גיד הנשה אינו אלא על הכף בלבד והוא כרוחב ד' אצבעות ואם הוא שלם מקרי בריה (בארוך כלל כ"ח):

In a Mixture, a Quantity of Permitted Food a Thousand Times Greater than an Insect Cannot Dissolve It An insect, like a moth, and impure poultry cannot be dissolved by a quantity of permitted foods a thousand times greater; this also includes the sinew, the limb of a living animal, the chick still in the egg. But this law only applies in things which has life, and excluding a grain of wheat; furthermore, the item must be forbidden by its very nature, with the exception of pure poultry that has lost this quality and the stoned ox. The forbidden item must be whole, as in case of disappearance it loses its name, except for the forbidden fat; the animal must be in good condition. G LOSS : The true place of the sinew is on the round of the femur, and its width is about four fingers; if it is intact, it should be considered as animated.

דבר שהוא בריה שנתבשל עם ההיתר אם אינו מכירו הכל אסור והרוטב בנותן טעם ואם מכירו זורקו והאחרים והרוטב צריך שיהא בהם ס' כנגדו חוץ מגיד הנשה שאין טעמו אוסר דאין בגידים בנותן טעם אבל שמנו אוסר וצריך ששים כנגדו להתיר הרוטב לפיכך ירך שנתבשל עם גידו אם מכירו זורקו וכל השאר מותר אם יש בו ס' כנגד שמנו ואם אינו מכירו כל החתיכות אסורות ואם יש בקדירה ס' כנגד השומן מותר הרוטב ואם לאו אסור ואם נמוח הגיד ואינו ניכר צריך גם כן ס' כנגדו:

When an insect has been cooked with permitted food, the latter is forbidden if the insect is invisible; this prohibition applies to the liquid part itself if it has taken on the flavor; but if the insect is visible, it must be removed, and the food and liquid are then permitted if they are sixty times greater than the insect. The sinew is exempted as it cannot impart a taste to the permitted food since it itself has no flavor; but for the fat of the sinew, which can communicate its flavor, a quantity sixty times greater is needed. Consequently, when a thigh has been cooked with its sinew, the latter must be removed if it is still visible: then all the remaining foods are permitted if they are sixty times greater than the fat of the sinew. But if the sinew is invisible, all the foods are forbidden; as for the liquid part, it is permitted if it represents a quantity sixty times greater than the fat of the sinew; otherwise, the liquid part itself is forbidden. If the sinew has been minced and is invisible, the mixture must contain a quantity of permitted foods sixty times greater than the sinew.

The broth in a pot is forbidden if an insect that cannot be found falls into it.

ירקות מבושלות שנמצאו בהם ג' תולעים הירקות אסורים אבל מי השלקות מסננן ומותרים וכן הבשר ירחצנו ויבדקנו ומותר:

When three worms are found in cooked vegetables, they are forbidden; the liquid part is permitted but must be filtered, and the meat is also permitted, provided it is washed and checked for worms.
