Orach Chayim Siman 666

Orach Chayim Siman 666 is a source-text unit from the Shulchan Arukh with 1 seifim. Its reading map separates the practical rule, its conditions and the points that need comparison with the surrounding text.

    What to track

Read each seif as a separate step. Identify the action, the condition that limits it and any distinction between cases before moving to the next seif.

    Study lens

Read the passage once for its sequence of ideas, then return to the words that carry the argument or image. The source text remains the primary evidence; this note offers a structured way to enter it rather than replacing close reading.

The Laws of the Sukkah on the Seventh Day: Even after finishing eating on the seventh day, the sukkah should not be dismantled. However, one should take in the dishes from it after Mincha and prepare the house for the final Yom Tov. If one doesn't want to clear the dishes and wants to eat in the sukkah on Shmini Atzeret, a four by four section of sukkah should be taken down to show that they are sitting there not for the mitzvah of sukkah, so that it will not look like adding to the mitzvah. Rema: If he wants to sit in the sukkah after the holiday, it is unnecessary to take down any section because it only looks like adding on Shmini Atzeret (Minhagim). If one must eat for the rest of the day, he must eat in the sukkah because the obligation extends the whole seven days. Outside of Israel where they have to sit in it also on Shmini Atzeret, when they are done eating on Shmini Atzeret they should take the dishes in and clear it out. If there is no space to take the dishes and they want to eat there on the ninth, they cannot partially dismantle it because it is Yom Tov. What should they do to make a distinction? If it was so small that it was forbidden to put a candle in it on the other days, they bring a candle in. If it was so big that it was permitted to bring a candle, they bring in all of the pots and pans to show that it is invalid, given that the time for the mitzvah has passed.
